Older animals tire long before their owners want to turn back, and post-operative pets are usually told to stay off their feet while still needing air and stimulation. A stroller means the walk continues rather than ending at the end of the road.

For indoor cats it does something different: it gives them the smells and noise of outside with a zipped barrier between them and it, which is the only way a lot of cats will ever tolerate a park.

• This is designed for pavements, parks and paths. It is not an off-road pram, and small wheels struggle on gravel, deep grass and mud.
• Always clip your pet's harness to the internal tether. The zip is a barrier, not a restraint, and a startled cat will find any gap.
• Introduce it indoors first. Let them sleep in the basket at home for a week before the first outing.
• Some cats never accept being wheeled and simply crouch and cry. A carrier may be the better answer for a very anxious cat.
